Thermo Fisher ESM Protocol

Instrument: Thermo Fisher - ESM Protocol

Congrego

When using the ESM protocol in Congrego it should be noted that the polling time (in seconds) should be set to roughly twice the number of parameters being requested.
Additionally the timeout time covers the timeout for the entire parameter range, not the individual parameters, so this should be set to the same value as the polling time.
If the entire requested parameter set is not returned within the timeout time then this will result in a ‘Communication Fault’ being displayed.

The manuals suggest that parameter data is returned in under a second but testing has shown that this time can vary depending on if both ports are being used on the instrument and other factors.
Polling the instrument faster than the instrument can return the values can result in returned values being interleaved and the wrong values being assigned to the wrong channels in Congrego.
